Tackling the UK’s growing food waste issue has become a high priority for both the public and private sector. The ultimate goal is ‘zero-waste’; meaning that we all throw away less and what we do dispose of can be transformed into a valuable resource.

WRAP, a government funded agency, is leading this initiative and last year called upon all organisations in the waste, food and packaging sectors to come together in order to develop best practices that will help achieve the government’s key waste targets. As a specialist sustainability communications agency we’re proud to be involved in a number of the Working groups that aspire to create a closed-loop economy within the food and hospitality sector, and by using our knowledge and experience, we will be helping shape policy whilst at the same time ensuring that we best represent the views of our clients, who are all committed to WRAP’s overall objectives of:

1. Waste prevention: to reduce food and associated packaging waste arisings by 5% by the end of 2015.

2. Waste management: to increase the overall rate of food and packaging waste being recycled, sent to Anaerobic Digestion or composted to at least 70% by the end of 2015.
