Enzygo comments on the energy potential of fracking in the UK

The geology of the Marcellus Shale is some of the most complex drilling companies see. Marker layers of bentonite (volcanic ash) fluoresce under Ultra Violet light in these Marcellus Shale cross sections. These can help identify similar layers of strata across large distances.

“At Enzygo we are convinced that fracking has the potential to deliver a cheap and secure long-term supply of unconventional gas that would enable the UK to be self-sustainable for perhaps at least a century.

Enzygo, in its role as a specialist, multidisciplinary environmental consultancy, has already successfully secured for clients the only two UK fracking licences, both from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), for sites in Dumfries & Galloway.
